Police: Befuddled school bus driver was DUI

1 min read

BENTON (AP) – Police say a northeastern Pennsylvania school bus driver who believed she was taking children to school when she actually should have been taking them home was driving drunk.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for the Benton Area School District driver identified only as Jennifer Watson.

Police say she was stopped Wednesday after students reported smelling alcohol on her breath and being confused when the driver told them she was taking them to school – even though it was 3:40 p.m.

Police tell WNEP-TV they were waiting for Watson along with her boss, the owner of Brewington Transportation, when she inexplicably brought the children back to school that day.

Police say Watson denied drinking, but acknowledged eating gin-soaked raisins she uses to deal with headaches.
