Paper: Pa. day care center linked to scandal closed

1 min read

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – State officials have shut down a Philadelphia day-care center run by a man allegedly at the heart of a political corruption scandal.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Public Welfare Department officials on Friday shut the Logan Child Care and Resource Center on North Broad Street. They cited conditions that created a likelihood of serious danger to the life or health of children.

The Inquirer reports that the center’s owner, Tyron Ali, was allegedly an undercover operative who taped five Philadelphia Democrats accepting cash or gifts in a state investigation that was later dropped by Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

Ali can appeal the closing.
