Sister to Sister Summit deadline extended

2 min read

The application deadline for the Sister to Sister Summit has been extended to 4 p.m. Wednesday. All girls who are sixth- or seventh-graders in Washington County are invited to apply. The 14th annual Sister to Sister Summit of Washington County will be held April 4 and 5 at Citizens Library in Washington.

Part of an international series of Sister to Sister Summits, this overnight conference is sponsored locally by the Washington branches of the American Association of University Women and Business and Professional Women and Outreach Teen and Family Services with support from Citizens Library, Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington Hospital Teen Outreach.

At the summit, a peer-facilitator will lead small group discussions and a variety of other activities to address critical areas of concern such as dealing with peer pressure, decision-making, creating positive friendships, body image, bullying, personal safety and self-defense, and dating and relationships. Team-building activities, “purposeful fun”, refreshments and ample sleep time will round out the agenda.

Prospective participants should contact Summit co-coordinator Kathy Sabol, AAUW-Washington, at katsabol@comcast.net or 724-225-6710 no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday. In addition, summit information was emailed to school districts and can be downloaded through Facebook or at www.sistertosistersummit.org.
