PITTSBURGH (AP) – The mother of a Western Pennsylvania man serving a life term in a shooting that killed one man and injured two others has been sentenced to two to six years in prison on a conviction of having provided him with the weapon.

Prosecutors in Allegheny County said 61-year-old Gloria Mazzocco of Imperial knew that 26-year-old David Mazzocco wasn’t allowed to have a gun because of his mental problems but transferred two handguns to him anyway. Police said he told his mother that someone wanted to buy the guns.

David Mazzocco was convicted of first-degree murder in the March 2013 shootings inside the Fort Pitt Inn that killed 29-nine-year-old karaoke DJ James Adams.

Defense attorney Mark Sindler sought probation so that his client could continue to care for her grandchildren.
