Students to serve Pittsburgh Project
WAYNESBURG – Nine Waynesburg University students will serve The Pittsburgh Project for a weekend work camp April 11-13. Dave Calvario, dean of students and director of the Center for Service Leadership, will serve as trip leader.
“The Pittsburgh Project serves vulnerable homeowners in neighborhoods throughout the city by providing home repairs,” Calvario said. Located on the north side of Pittsburgh, TPP is committed to meeting the needs of the Pittsburgh community and providing inner-city housing ministries. For several years, Waynesburg University has partnered with TPP to give homeowners a chance to save their homes as well as prevent possible citation or eviction.
Students will assist with general home repairs and focus on building relationships with homeowners. Making the trip will be:
Kimberly Baston, a freshman from North Huntingdon; Craig Collins, a freshman from Carmichaels; James Glisan, a sophomore from West Newton; Nathan Hsueh, a junior from Mercer Island, Wash.; Paige Lane, a freshman from West Lafayette, Ohio; Taryn Leiter, a freshman from Erie; Ben Little, a sophomore from McKeesport; Hannah Szymanik, a senior from Mount Holly Springs; and James Witte, a junior from Waynesburg.
