Sacramento, Calif, man charged with sexually assaulting girl in Charleroi
CHARLEROI – A man from the state of California was arrested Friday on charges he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Charleroi last month after giving her liquor to drink.
Charleroi Regional police filed a string of charges against Ricky Gutierrez, 21, of Sacramento, accusing him of inappropriately touching the girl in a bedroom of a residence in the 200 block of Ninth Street about 9:30 p.m. April 11, court records state.
An officer was called to the residence at that time to take a report on a complaint two 14-year-old girls were drunk and that one of them had possibly been sexually assaulted, the criminal affidavit indicates.
The victim’s parents were there and explained to police they found their daughter drunk in a bed and unable to walk. The father noticed her pants were unbuttoned and she wasn’t wearing underwear while he carried her down the stairs, police said.
The girl started to wake up in the back seat of her mother’s car and said “Ricky” touched her, the record states.
She was then taken to Mon Valley Hospital for a rape exam, the results of which were not revealed Friday in court records.
The following day the girl and her mother went to the police station to give statements about the incident. The girl said she was walking around town with her friend when they met Ricky and went to a park.
The suspect left to purchase liquor, returned and gave the girl a drink, which she said tasted similar to a sports drink. She allegedly received a second drink from him at the residence, a cocktail the girl said “tasted weird,” police said in the affidavit.
The girl began to feel ill and decided to rest on a bed, where she claimed the sexual assault took place, police said. She also told police she put her pants back on after the suspect left the room and didn’t remember anything else that night until she was in her mother’s car.
Gutierrez was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault on someone substantially impaired, indecent assault on a minor, indecent assault of a person under age 16, corruption of minors and unlawful conduct with a minor.
He is in Washington County jail on $500,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins and faces a preliminary hearing before Hopkins at 10:30 a.m. May 14.
