Woman faces theft charge for misappropriating youth football funds

MONONGAHELA – A Monongahela woman had most of her charges dismissed Thursday but still faces one count of theft from a youth football association while she served as the group’s treasurer.

Christal A. Waggoner, 33, of 517 Grant St. avoided a preliminary hearing in the case before District Judge Mark Wilson by waiving the remaining charge to Washington County Court, court records stated.

Waggoner was accused by Monongahela police of misappropriating $2,158 in money from raffle tickets that were being used as a fundraiser for Ringgold Youth Athletic Football Association between November and Feb. 26, the criminal complaint and affidavit indicate.

Three counts of theft were dismissed against Waggoner, who was arrested April 16, under the terms of a tentative plea agreement she reached with the prosecution She was to make restitution and has been free on $5,000 bond set by Wilson.
