Mental Health Association to hold awards dinner

The Mental Health Association of Washington County will hold its 49th annual dinner on May 16 at Southpointe Golf Club. The speaker will be WTAE reporter and anchor Sally Wiggin.

Annual awards will also be presented. The winner of the Robert A. Harms Professional of the Year Award is Pastor Paul Peternel of the Christian Assembly of God in Bentleyville He visits the residents of Enhanced Personal Care Home and the Long Term Structured Residence in Bentleyville and shares compassion and understanding through his guitar music.

BCR Lions Club will received the Clara L. Deems Neighbor of the year awards. The club received received grant money from Lions District 14-M to equip a handicapped bedroom at the long-term residence with emergency fire alarm equipment for a deaf resident.

John Blankenship, owner of Wendy’s franchises in Canonsburg, Peters Township and Washington, will receive the Corporate Citizen of the Year Award. Over the past 10 years, Wendy’s has hired at least 70 TEC clients with disabilities.
