1 min read

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police say a man answering a late-night knock on his door in north Philadelphia was shot and killed through a peephole.

Investigators said the shooting happened shortly before midnight Sunday in the East Germantown section of the city.

Family members told officers that there was a knock on the door and the 29-year-old man looked through a peephole on the side of the door.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said while he was looking out, at least two shots were fired through the peephole.

The victim was struck in the face and pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.

Police said the shooter, who may have had an accomplice, fled on foot. Small said the shots were fired from outside, and no suspects entered the home.
