Throckmorton United Methodist Church East View will serve a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today. The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, pasta salad, desserts and drinks. Everyone is welcome and donation are accepted.
Waynesburg State Police will be conducting a free child restraint checkup from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Carmichaels/Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department, 420 W. George St. Parents wanting to have their child restraint checked for recalls and to learn how to properly secure child seats are encouraged to participate. Certified child restraint technicians from the state police will be available to assist.
The senior class at West Greene High School is hosting Pioneer Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the high school football field. Any West Greene group that would like to set up a fundraising booth is welcome to do so. The cost to set up a booth is $10. Planned activities include a dunk tank, carnival games, face painting and a DJ. There also will be photos, a concession stand and a 50/50 drawing.
Greene County Veterans Affairs will hold a veterans’ outreach at 10 a.m. May 29 in the West Greene Senior Center. Veterans can make an appointment or stop by to learn about services, including pension, compensation, disability, health care, life insurance, funeral and burial claims and retroactive benefits, said Dalene Watson, office director.
