Monkey missing after Pa. animal rescue fire found
HANOVER (AP) – A capuchin monkey missing after a fire that destroyed an exotic animal rescue in southern Pennsylvania has been found.
The East Coast Exotic Animal Rescue said the monkey, named Bug, was found late Monday on the deck of a neighbor’s home in Fairfield, Adams County.
The organization said in a post on its Facebook page that the capuchin was “eating cat food and a lemon.” Officials said the monkey happily returned to its cage and was munching on a favorite snack, Doritos.
The monkey fled after he was removed from the animal rescue, which burned down early Saturday. Two residents escaped, and most of the animals were saved from the fire. Two cats died.
Fire officials said the blaze was likely caused by a short in a wireless router.
