Former jury official gets ARD for targeting foes
BUTLER (AP) – The former Republican jury commissioner in a western Pennsylvania county will spend a year and a half on probation for sending jury duty questionnaires to two county commissioners who voted to eliminate his job, and two others who supported the move.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jon Galante entered a special first offenders’ program Tuesday, which will enable the former Butler County official to have his criminal record expunged if he completes the probation without incident.
Potential jurors are supposed to be randomly selected, but court papers show Galante confessed to manipulating the system so jury duty questionnaires were sent in October to two Butler County commissioners, the county solicitor, and a citizen who also favored cutting the Galante’s job.
The commissioners had previously voted to cut Galante’s job by the end of last year.
