School locked down after gun threat drawn on wall
AMBRIDGE (AP) – Police searched a Western Pennsylvania high school that was locked down after the message “I have a gun” was found written on a rest room wall.
Beaver County emergency dispatchers said police were not treating Wednesday’s situation at Ambridge Area High School as an emergency.
Rather, the building was locked down so police could go room to room searching for a weapon and to otherwise ensure that students were safe.
The school is located about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
On April 9, a student at another suburban school, Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after he allegedly used two kitchen knives from his home to stab 20 students and a security guard.
