PennDOT honors employees
Two employees of state Department of Transportation District 12, which covers Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties, were awarded PennDOT’s highest recognition, the Star of Excellence award.
The local winners, district human resources manager Marcia Harrer and design project manager Barry Lyons, were honored Wednesday at an awards luncheon at the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg.
In total, 27 PennDOT employees were recognized for their “outstanding performances,” according to a news release from PennDOT.
Harrer, of Mt. Pleasant, was recognized for her focus on safety, and Lyons, of Perryopolis, was recognized for his work on several complex designs throughout the district.
The Star of Excellence awards are presented annually to employees who represent the department’s values of service, performance and integrity. The recipients represent a variety of organizational positions, from highway maintenance and driver and vehicle services workers, to programming specialists, communications staff and design and engineering specialists.
