Man arrested on burglary, other charges
A Claysville man was arrested Thursday by state police after he allegedly entered the East Finley home of his former girlfriend.
David J. Wise, 20, of 291 Chapel Hill Road, was taken into custody after he was found in a wooded area behind his home following a search by troopers and the state police aviation unit.
Police were called to the home of Jessie Miller on Cracraft Road in East Finley for a reported domestic dispute. Before troopers arrived, they were told that the man involved in the dispute, later identified as Wise, left on a bicycle.
Miller told police she was in her upstairs bedroom just before 11 a.m. when Wise came into her room. She told police she believes he got into the home through a locked back door by using a credit card.
Wise allegedly punched a hole in the wall of the hallway. Miller said she told Wise to leave. Once outside, he allegedly punched the window in her vehicle.
The two reportedly continued to argue outside the home, and Miller said Wise grabbed her by the shoulder and pushed her. She told police that she hit Wise to get him away from her.
When police questioned Wise, he claimed Miller let him in the home. He also denied pushing Miller.
Wise was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on two counts each of criminal trespass and criminal mischief and one count each of burglary, harassment and underage drinking. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for June 3 before District Judge Ethan Ward.
