Cenveo moving envelope plant for former Sony site

1 min read

NEW STANTON (AP) – Cenveo Inc. is moving an envelope plant it purchased last year to the former Sony television plant in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Cenveo, based in Stamford, Connecticut, bought the plant in Fayette County when it purchased National Envelope out of bankruptcy for $25 million in September. Shortly after the sale, Cenveo said it would cut half of the plant’s 400 workers.

But the company told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review it will keep 300 workers, because of the move to the former Sony plant near New Stanton. The plant stopped making televisions more than four years ago and is owned by the Regional Industrial Development Corp. in Westmoreland County.

Cenveo will invest $4 million to keep the new plant competitive while the company deals with decreased demand for envelopes due to email and online commerce.
