Work is continuing on a $1.6 million project at Greene County Airport that will involve clearing six acres of land west of the airport administration building to make space available for commercial development.

The six acres, which will be divided into three, two-acre parcels, fronts Route 21 and is in the area of the four old airplane hangars, which are now being demolished. The hangars are being replaced by a new 20,280 square foot, T-hangar that is being constructed east of the administration building that will house 10 compartments for airplanes, a maintenance and equipment room and a pilot’s room. Eventually, the access road into the airport property will be realigned with Murtha Drive to make a new four-way intersection at Murtha Drive and Route 21. The project is being funded through grants and the county’s Act 13 impact fee revenue.
