Charges filed for Morgan altercation
CLARKSVILLE – Charges were filed Wednesday against two men following an investigation into a disturbance May 18 in Morgan Township.
State police charged Barry Douglas, 40, of Jefferson, with recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, driving on a suspended or revoked license and reckless driving after allegedly striking a vehicle twice driven by Junior Hall, 43, of Clarksville.
A Clarksville man, who police say was a passenger in Douglas’ vehicle, has also been charged. Jesse Alan Wolff, 32, who is Douglas’ brother-in-law, allowed Douglas to drive his vehicle knowing Douglas had a suspended license for driving under the influence of alcohol. Wolff allegedly lied to police and claimed he was the driver May 18 and not Douglas.
Police have charged Wolff with giving false reports to law enforcement authorities, and allowing Douglas to drive his vehicle on a suspended license.
According to a criminal complaint filed before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates, Hall said Douglas pulled behind him when he was stopped along a street in the area of Clarksville known as G.I. Town or Teagarden Homes. Hall said he motioned for Douglas to drive around him but Douglas instead bumped into the back of Hall’s pickup truck, turned around and drove away.
Hall told police he decided to follow Douglas. When both vehicles turned on Route 1011 near Braden Plan, Hall pulled around Douglas, got in front of his vehicle and stopped in front of it. Hall told police he got out of his truck and started to yell at Douglas to get out of his car. He said Douglas refused and drove off hitting the driver’s side door of Hall’s truck.
Two witnesses told police they saw Hall get out of his truck and begin yelling at Douglas and saw Douglas nearly strike Hall and hit the door of Hall’s vehicle.
Police said they told Wolff multiple times there were several witnesses who saw Douglas driving his vehicle that day but Wolff refused to change his story. He continued to say Douglas was a passenger when the incidents occurred.
Preliminary hearings for Douglas and Wolff are pending.
