Dayich will seek judicial nomination
WAYNESBURG – Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich of Waynesburg announced he will seek a nomination for seat on the bench of the Greene County Court of Common Pleas in the 2015 spring primary.
President Judge William Nalitz reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 and will step down at the end of this year.
Dayich’s law background began in 1988, when he served as the county’s chief public defender, a position he held until 1991. Dayich served as a trial attorney from 1991 until 1999, the year he was elected as the Judge in District Court 13-03-01. Dayich has served in that capacity for the past 15 years.
Dayich believes his more than 25 years of experience in the judicial system make him well qualified for the work at the Court of Common Pleas and believes that now is the right time for an experienced jurist.
He graduated from Central Greene High School in 1980 and earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Washington & Jefferson College in 1984.
In 1987, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Dayich is a part-time instructor at Waynesburg University teaching classes in the department of criminal justice. He is a past board member of the Greene County Historical Society and resides in Waynesburg and has two grown children.
Candidates for the open judicial seat are permitted to cross-file.
