Police arrest two after Midway fight

2 min read

Two men were arrested Wednesday by McDonald police after officers were called to Midway to break up a fight that reportedly involved a gun.

Eric C. Prebeg, 29, of 107 St. John St., Midway, and David R. Lira, 29, of 1120 Grant St., Bulger, were taken into custody following the disturbance outside 218 W. Dickson St.

Police said Prebeg was asked to confront another man over a previous incident involving Lira’s sister. Lira, according to police, went to the back door of the Dickson Street residence while Prebeg waited in a parking lot.

Two of the residents told police it sounded like the man later identified as Lira was trying to break into the home. One of the residents got a gun and put it in the waistband of his pants. One of the men went outside and confronted Lira, and the two exchanged blows, police said. Both men had facial injuries.

Prebeg allegedly confronted the man who had the gun, and the two of them exchanged punches, police said.

Prebeg and Lira were arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Lira also was charged with public drunkenness. They were placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 percentage bonds.
