Two men face charges after truck crash in Chartiers
Two Washington men are facing charges after a joyride in a stolen pickup truck ended Thursday night with the vehicle rolled over in the grass parking lot of the Washington County Fairgrounds in Chartiers Township, police said.
According to police, the two were in the truck doing doughnuts in the lot when the vehicle struck a dirt embankment and rolled over.
Police said the two, who are not being identified until charges are filed, fled on foot when police arrived. Officer John Hansen chased the pair on foot through Chartiers Creek. Officer Harry Miller, who was driving down Arden Road adjacent to the lot, spotted the two and nabbed them.
The driver allegedly told police that he took the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 while working for the Ron Lewis dealership in Waynesburg several weeks ago. The truck was valued at $61,000. The passenger told police he did not know the truck was stolen.
