Man dead of gunshot wound after Pittsburgh area police chase

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities say a man died of a gunshot wound after leading police on a high-speed chase near Pittsburgh.

State police in Greensburg said 22-year-old Ryan Senko of East Huntingdon Township was pronounced dead shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at UMPC Presbyterian.

Police said relatives obtained a mental health warrant, reporting that Senko was despondent over a failed romantic relationship, had a gun and could pose a danger to himself or others.

Police officers at the University of Pittsburgh were alerted and began to pursue Senko’s vehicle, and state police responded.

Lt. James Shaw said Senko tried to evade pursuers and multiple shots were fired during the chase through Hempfield and Mt. Pleasant.

Shaw said it’s unclear whether Senko shot himself or was killed by shots from police.
