A former closing-shift manager at a Jefferson Avenue fast-food restaurant and her boyfriend were sentenced Thursday in the Washington County Court after stealing more than $3,000 from the business last year.

Melissa L. Temple, 30, and Justin E. Twardon, 24, both of 121 Third St., Waynesburg, appeared before Washington County Common Pleas Judge Gary Gilman and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft. Temple also pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking.

The pair were accused of stealing $3,205 from Burger King, 775 Jefferson Ave., in October 2013.

Temple was sentenced to 36 months in the intermediate punishment program with the first 90 days on electronic home monitoring. She also was ordered to pay restitution and to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation. She must complete any recommended treatment.

Twardon was sentenced to 12 months of probation, ordered to pay restitution and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation. He also must complete any recommended treatment.

Both are to have no contact with Burger King.
