Police beat Oct. 11
Woman jailed: Francine S. Ptak, 45, of 118 Main St., Brownsville, is charged by township police with simple assault and harassment, accused of jumping on a nurse’s back and attempting to choke her in Mon Valley Hospital’s emergency department about 12:30 a.m. Friday, court records state. Ptak is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Assault on officer alleged: Ashley Brooks, 28, of 1217 Crest Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension and disorderly conduct, court records state. Police accuse her of shoving and hitting Washington County probation officer Heather Testa with a door at the police station, 338 Fallowfield Ave., about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, resulting in a foot chase before she was apprehended. She is in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Public drunkenness charge: Jeffrey Gallagher, 25, of 92 Acheson Ave., Washington, was charged with public drunkenness after city police said he banged on a Dewey Avenue home’s back door and tried to get in after mistakenly thinking it was his residence about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Disorderly conduct: Washington police said they charged Fred Gertler, 68, with disorderly conduct after he allegedly yelled at neighbors before becoming combative with paramedics trying to render him aid near his 351 Locust Ave. home about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
