Seeking the who, why and where
Between 1969 and 1971, someone in the Observer-Reporter’s Canonsburg office took this photo, and the negative is now one of several million residing in the newspaper’s archives. Thousands of those images, like this one, lack identification. The only information we have is the three-year period in which it was made.
Our guess is that readers would have had no trouble in determining about when this week’s Mystery Photo was taken; the wild patterns, go-go boots and hairstyles are definitely from that time. But we’re hoping that those readers might be able to identify the man and six women in the picture and know what they might have been doing. It’s likely the photo was published in the newspaper to promote some sort of an event, perhaps a musical review.
If you think you know any of these folks or know when, where and why the photo was taken, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him at 724-222-2200, extension 2400.
With a little assistance from our readers, we’ll be able to solve this puzzle and publish our findings next Monday.
