ROGERSVILLE – Center Township Volunteer Fire Department will present fire safety talks to schools in West Greene School District.

Presentations will take place at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at Springhill-Freeport Elementary School followed by one at 12:30 p.m. at Graysville Elementary School.

The fire company also will do presentations at West Greene Middle School at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 and the West Greene Pre-School at approximately 10:30 a.m., or immediately following the middle school presentation.

In addition to the fire safety presentations, “Sparky” will make an appearance.

For the first time this year, the fire company held contests at the schools. A coloring contest was held for kindergarten students; first-and second-grade students had a poster contest on “How Smoke Detectors Save Lives;” and an essay contest was offered to third-, fourth- and fifth-graders on the subject, “What Fire Prevention Means to Me.”

Prizes will be awarded during the fire safety presentations.
