Saccone bill headed to governor’s desk

1 min read

Legislation sponsored by state Rep. Rick Saccone, R-Elizabeth, to protect children from sexual predators is on its way to the governor’s desk for his signature.

House Bill 90 was unanimously passed last week by the state House. It would permit the attorney general and local prosecutors to obtain through administrative subpeonas limited identifying information about Internet Service Provider subscribers whose computers are involved in the distribution of child pornography. This could result in faster apprehension of child sexual predators.

The bill would give state law enforcement officials the same tool available to those at the federal level with the intent of interception predators before they have a chance to act and to bring those who have offended quickly to justice.
