• Action: Council agreed to sponsor requests for Washington County Local Share Account grants for Peters Creek Sanitary Authority for $122,500 for a sewer replacement project on McCombs Road; $3 million for Peters Township Sanitary Authority for a new sewage treatment plant for Donaldsons Crossroads, and from the Canonsburg Lake restoration group. Previously, council agreed to apply for funds for a new amphitheater in Peterswood Park. Applications were due Wednesday.
Ed Rafferty was appointed as a school district representative for the Parks and Recreation Board. Rafferty will fill one of three vacant positions with the term to expire in January 2016.
Council agreed to demolish a house at 824 Old Washington Road after obtaining three quotes. The house was sold at a county upset sale recently. The new owner agreed to reimburse to the township for demolition.
• Discussion: Council learned the township received $317,559.76 from the state for pension fund distribution. The amount is $45,000 less than last year. The township must provide an additional $413,000 to cover pension costs for police, public works and administration/fire.
