ROBINSON (AP) – Police said a western Pennsylvania man was drunk when he let his 8-year-old son drive the man’s sport-utility vehicle when it crashed into a tree

State police say 46-year-old Frank Gordon Conway told them “he did not see a problem” with letting the boy sit between his legs in the driver’s seat and steer the car and operate its pedals when he crashed just before midnight Aug. 4.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports police filed the charges Tuesday. The West Wheatfield Township man faces a Nov. 19 preliminary hearing on charges of child endangerment, reckless endangerment and two traffic citations: allowing an unlicensed driver to use his vehicle and permitting careless driving.

Police said the SUV went through yards and a parking lot before hitting the tree. The boy suffered face and chest injuries.
