Officials: 4 children, 2 adults die in house fire

1 min read

MCKEESPORT (AP) — Six people, including four children, perished in a fast-moving house fire near Pittsburgh early Saturday, authorities said.

Two adults were also killed in the fire in McKeesport said Allegheny County emergency services chief Alvin Henderson. Local firefighters could see the glow in the sky as they answered the call shortly before 7 a.m., he said.

Another man was injured and taken to a local hospital, but information about his condition was not immediately available.

The names of the victims, their ages and their relationship to each other were not immediately released.

The fire destroyed a two-story wood frame house in the 300 block of Express Alley. McKeesport is a city of about 20,000 people 10 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, on the Monongahela River.

An investigation was continuing and Henderson said it could take days to determine the cause of the blaze.

“It’s a slow, methodical process,” Henderson said.
