Man charged with Megan’s Law violation
A man who listed addresses in Waynesburg and Charleroi is in Washington County jail on a Megan’s Law violation.
State police in Washington received a tip Sept. 26 that Mark Anthony McConnell, 32, had failed to register by Sept. 24 as required by Megan’s Law for a previous conviction involving a sex offense, according to affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis.
When he initially registered, police said he listed an address of 904 Ninth St., Charleroi, but when police went to the address, they found it does not exist in the borough, according to Charleroi police.
After running McConnell’s name through a state registry, state police discovered he listed 2128 W. Roy Furman Highway, Waynesburg, as his address and state police at the Waynesburg barracks were contacted. However, police discovered that address was abandoned.
McConnell was eventually picked up and was arraigned before Ellis late Friday. He was charged with failure to comply with registration requirements and was placed in jail on $50,000 bond.
