Running car stolen in Canonsburg
A Cecil Township man told Canonsburg police that his car was stolen Sunday while he was at a movie dispenser at a drug store.
Joshua Lemon of Muse and his girlfriend, Nicole Pero, were at the dispenser when she noticed his car being backed up and driven off the lot at Walgreen’s, 100 Cavasina Drive by a woman. Lemon told police that he had left the engine running in his blue Hyundai Sonata while they went to the dispenser.
Pero ran after the car that went around the back of the building and pulled onto Cavasina. The car stopped briefly near the traffic light and a man carrying four backpacks jumped inside.
The vehicle then fled, going through a red light at McClelland road and traveling to Interstate 79 north.
Police got Lemon’s cellphone carrier to trace his phone, which was in the vehicle, to the West End area of Pittsburgh, but when police arrived the car was gone. Lemon also used an application to trace his cellphone, again in the Pittsburgh area, but again the car was gone.
Police later learned the woman had walked in and out of the store at least twice. She also had gotten a prescription filled. A witness overheard her talking on her cellphone and telling the person that it would be no problem getting to Pittsburgh.
The driver was white, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, skinny, with short brown hair and in her mid-30s. Police got a tentative identity of the driver being a Mercer County woman. Her passenger is white, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, skinny and weighing about 180 pounds. He had dark hair.
