Charleroi woman linked to Rostraver home invasion
A Charleroi woman’s payroll sheet left behind last week at the scene of a home invasion in Rostraver Township became the key piece of evidence in police naming one of three suspects in the case.
The payroll record from Mentor Network also contained the employee number and the name of Bobbi Drdul, who was arrested Thursday on charges related to the Oct. 21 robbery and assault of a 91-year-old woman in her home in Collinsburg, Westmoreland County, court records indicate.
Rostraver police then questioned Drdul, informing her that her boyfriend, Lamont Dixon of Donora, was a suspect in the case, and she replied that she hadn’t seen him in several weeks, the affidavit in her arrest indicates.
Dixon, 35, of 783 McKean Ave., was arrested Thursday at Drdul’s apartment at 710 Crest Ave. in connection with an unrelated assault in Carroll Township last month. He has since been in Washington County jail on $500,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins in Charleroi.
Drdul was charged by Rostraver police with hindering the apprehension or prosecution of Dixon and receiving stolen property, court records show. She was placed in Westmoreland County prison on $500,000 bond set by District Judge Charles Christner in Rostraver.
Court official said police have two other suspects in the home invasion, and were serving a search warrant in the investigation Monday.
Rostraver police said Drdul Thursday told a different story, relating she gave false statements to protect Dixon and knew he allegedly used her car during the robbery. Police said she also stated Dixon gave her $200, jewelry and gold coins that were stolen from Francis Tekavec, the victim of the home invasion.
Three men wearing masks forced their way into Tekavec’s home about 6:40 a.m. Oct. 21. One of the men shoved her to the floor, causing a serious injury to her neck, while another held a hunting knife to her right ribs.
Police said they dragged her to her bed, where they tied her legs and hands together. They left after stealing $900, jewelry valued at $20,000 and several gold dollar coins they found in a safe in her bedroom closet, the affidavit indicates. The trio also stole $28 from her purse, police allege.
