J-M classes dismissed early after bomb threat

1 min read

JEFFERSON – Jefferson-Morgan School District dismissed classes early Friday as a result of a bomb threat, the second this month.

No evidence of a bomb was found after an investigation by state police, said Donna Furnier, in an email response to questions. Classes will resume Monday on a normal schedule, she said.

Parents received a notice from the district’s automatic telephone messaging system that students in the middle-senior high school were to be dismissing at 1:30 p.m. and those in the elementary school at 2 p.m. A later message indicated the threat had been made in the middle-senior high school.

The district also dismissed classes early Oct. 15 after a threatening note was found in one of the buildings. Friday’s early dismissal because of a bomb threat was the second this month and second this school year.
