Quilts documented

1 min read

The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation started a project to document and publish the quilts of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

They are documenting quilts in 10 counties and will be in Greene County from 11 a.m. to 3:435 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13 at the Rogersville United Methodist fellowship hall.

Any type of hand-made quilt is welcome – patchwork, applique, embroidery, crazy quilts, whole cloth quilts and quilt tops yet to be quilted. The committee will measure, photograph, date the fabric, identify the pieced or applique pattern and record the story of your quilt. They will not be able to appraise quilts during the documentation project.

There is no fee for the documentation, but there is a $5 charge to cover the cost of the copies of the data intake form.

The Pine Tree Quilt Shop in Waynesburg is responsible for registration and scheduling the appointment times for the documentation. To do so, contact Linda Jones by stopping at the quilt shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; or call 724-833-9147.
