County airport projects cost less than expected
At the request of Scott Gray, executive director of the Washington County Airport, the board of commissioners ratified a reduction in the county’s contract with Lindy Paving Inc. to $1,457,770 from $1,510,236 for runway paving. The Kimball Engineering firm also recommended the change.
Gray also was granted a $6,731 reduction in the contract with Lone Pine Construction Co. for the Airport Road cattle-guard-like grate and fence project, to keep deer out of the operations area. The total of that contract is now $168,622.
At the request of the Washington County Redevelopment Authority, which oversees the airport, the commissioners approved expansion of fixed-base operator Aero National Inc.’s use of the terminal to include both an adjacent parcel of land and an aircraft parking apron. The lease is effective through June 28, 2020, in the amount of $6,937 per year.
The commissioners also amended the county’s lease with Aero National to include apron and office space through December 2019 with an option to extend for 30 months. The county will receive $1,373 per month through the end of 2015, and the amount that will rise annually to $2,568 per month through the end of 2019.
