WAYNESBURG – A Nemacolin man who pleaded guilty to illegally transferring a firearm was sentenced last week by Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to 6 to 23 ½ months in jail.
Billy Wayne Stiles, 26, of 296 Sheridan St. was charged by Cumberland Township police March 22, 2013, after three handguns and two rifles he left with another person were recovered.
One of the handguns had its serial number removed and was reported stolen. Two had been purchased by another person who told police she had bought them for Stiles after he told her he could not pass a background test.
