A passenger in a Tri-County Access vehicle that struck a utility pole in the 1100 block of Donner Avenue in Monessen was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m. Monday.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Virginia Andrako, 84, of Charleroi, died after being transported to Monongahela Valley Hospital’s emergency room, where she was being prepped for transport to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The accident, which is under investigation by Monessen Police Department, happened about 4 p.m. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
