Police beat Sept. 9
Trespass charge: Lawrence Papini, 19, was arraigned Monday on a charge of criminal trespass after he reportedly returned to California after he was ordered in July to stay away from the borough by District Judge Gary Havelka. He was charged with retail theft Aug. 16 for allegedly stealing items from the Dollar General store in California, and police charged him with criminal trespass for violating the judge’s order. He was arraigned on the new charge before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail without bond. Kanalis denied bond on grounds that the previous order was violated.
Assault arraignment: Erin Marie Butler, 21, of North Versailles, was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis Monday on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and flight to avoid apprehension filed by California police. She is accused of threatening three men with a knife while she looked for her ex-boyfriend Aug. 23 on Second Street. When police arrived, they said Butler ran. She reportedly confronted the men again, but they were able to disarm her, police said. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
PFA violation alleged: Apryl Durista, 20, of Grindstone, was charged by California police with violating a protection-from-abuse order for allegedly contacting her ex-husband, Mustafa Ajourni, 25, of California, through social media. He also told police he was threatened a week earlier by a man while he was on the campus of California University of Pennsylvania. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Disorderly charges: Christopher G. Tartt, 25, Phillip C. Tartt, 25, and Challe Martin, 20, all of Donora, and Jeffrey Knox, 22, of California, were charged by California police with disorderly conduct stemming from an incident at Spuds Restaurant, Wood Street, early Thursday. Martin also was charged with underage drinking and criminal mischief after he allegedly spit and urinated in the police department’s holding cell. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Burglary attempt: An attempt was made Saturday to break into Hidden Treasures, 48 W. Pike St., Canonsburg police said. The rear door was kicked in and a lock punched out, but there apparently was no entry made in the business.
Marijuana charges: Adam Scott Kestner, 33, of 164 Castle Road, Canton was arrested by state police on charges of manufacturing and possessing marijuana, simple assault, unlawful restraint and harassment after police said they found three suspected marijuana plants while answering a domestic call at his home Saturday morning. Police said they were called by Anna Marie March, who told troopers she was tired of her husband putting his hands on her. She told police Kestner assaulted her the previous night, put her in a room and would not let her leave. Police said they also found three marijuana plants in the front yard. Kestner was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Motorcyclist hurt: Jeffrey S. Rolley, 48, of Washington, was injured about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when his motorcycle crashed in the 100 block of Lynn Road, Canton. State police said he was going west when he failed to negotiate a left curve. His motorcycle went off the road onto gravel and flipped, throwing Rolley. He was flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
Drug arrest: Justin David Key, 24, of 147 First Ave., New Eagle, was arrested Sunday night by Charleroi Regional police after he was spotted walking on Lincoln Avenue in North Charleroi. Police recognized him and asked if he was Justin Key, because they knew he was wanted on a warrant. Police said Key instead identified himself as Justin Kay. After police identified him, they took him into custody. Police said they found him with morphine pills, suspected crack and marijuana. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of possession of crack, morphine, marijuana and paraphernalia and false identification to police. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Assault arrest: Elliott Blake Haney, 32, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Friday night by North Strabane police on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of grabbing Rachel L. McHugh by the neck during a confrontation at her home at 226 Coachside Drive. He released her when she kicked at him, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Money stolen: Carol Wagoner of Butler told North Strabane police she had money stolen while she was attending a concert Sunday at The Meadows Casino.
Theft, conspiracy arrest: Michelle Griest, 32, of 210 Ninth St., Charleroi, was arrested Sunday afternoon by South Strabane police on charges of retail theft and conspiracy after she and another woman allegedly stole items from Walmart, Trinity Point. There was no indication if the other woman was charged. Griest was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $3,000 bond.
Drug charges: Maceo Saunders, 19, of 1651 Weirich Ave., Washington, was charged with drug possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia after city police said they found him with a “large bag” of cocaine, $2,860 in cash and empty bags with cocaine residue during a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Main Street early Saturday morning. He was arraigned by District Judge Jay Weller and taken to the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond. Two women in the car with Saunders, Shantye Brown, 34, of 430 W. Chestnut St., and Iesha Hackett, 36, of 344 Locust Ave., face disorderly conduct citations for causing a disturbance during the stop, police said.
DUI arrest: Michael B. Barrett, 27, of Weston, W.Va., was arrested Friday night by Washington police on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, having an open container, failure to stay in his lane and reckless driving stemming from an incident near the intersection of Maiden and South Main streets. Police said they found beer cans in his vehicle, including one partially full. His blood-alcohol content was more than three times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Task force arrest: Darel J. Barbour, 32, of 310 Woodland Ave., Washington, was arrested Saturday on a warrant obtained by the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine, marijuana and crack stemming from a June 30 incident. Detectives reportedly saw a hand-to-hand transaction take place. Police said they conducted a traffic stop, and the Washington police K9 alerted to the seat where Barbour was sitting. Police took him to the station and said they found two packages containing suspected cocaine and one of marijuana hidden in his rectum. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Assault, trespass arrest: Deangelo Anthony Wells, 26, of 429 Houston St., Washington, was arrested early Saturday by Washington police on charges of simple assault and driving under suspension after he allegedly pulled the hair of Lean Cox during a dispute in the 300 block of Baird Avenue. He was stopped a short time later. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released with orders not to retaliate against witnesses or the alleged victim.
Assault arrest: Rodney George Kelley-Long, 21, of 126 Hall Ave., Washington, was arrested Friday night by Washington police on a charge of simple assault stemming from a domestic dispute at his home. He is accused of kicking Vaessa Cleckley, knocking her to the ground and choking her. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released with orders to not retaliate against the alleged victim.
Car break-in: Scott Jordan, 30, of 752 Duncan Ave., Washington, was charged with theft and criminal mischief after city police said he broke a car’s rear window and stole a purse and computer from the vehicle parked at 111 W. Spruce St. Aug. 13.
Simple assault: Corey J. Talley, 37, of 986 Jefferson Ave., Washington, faces a charge of simple assault after city police said he slapped a woman in the face at his home Aug. 13.
