A Consol Energy representative will attend the Oct. 14 meeting of North Franklin Township supervisors to discuss dam repair at the lakeside property it owns in the municipality.

Rich Perin, Consol’s director of land management, will present a PowerPoint overview at the 6 p.m. meeting to outline the proposed work to be done at the breastworks.

Consol owns a 1,000-acre site beside two former reservoirs along Scenic Drive.

At a July board of supervisors meeting, township solicitor Gary Sweat said he believes the company plans to build an upscale housing development around the lakes.

CNX Land Resources Inc., a subsidiary of Consol, and other Marcellus Shale-related business have been using the water there for drilling purposes.

In other business, supervisors:

• Approved holding Halloween on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

• Approved hiring A-1 Asphalt Sealing Co. of Washington to complete line striping and other work at the Washington Crown Center Mall entrance at a cost of about $2,125.

• Voted to set the duration of a burning permit to two weeks once it is issued. Burning of brush is permitted in the township on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Listened as members of North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department outlined plans to possibly build storage sheds on a portion of the fire department’s parking lot to provide income for the station. The fire station relies heavily on fundraising and bingo to meet its approximately $300,000 budget and is looking for a more consistent source of revenue.
