I-70 ramp closed by truck accident
A truck hauling drill cuttings overturned on Interstate 70 east near Jefferson Avenue Wednesday morning and dumped its load onto the road and shoulder. The truck, belonging to Tarr Redimix Concrete, was hauling drill site cuttings for Range Resources.
State Trooper Matthew Jardine said the latch on the back of the dump truck broke, and the drill cuttings had to be off-loaded to another truck before the first truck could be moved. State Department of Transportation crews worked to clean up the site.
The Jefferson Avenue entrance ramp to I-70 east reopened about 2:30 p.m with some minor restrictions on the ramp to Interstate 79 northbound.
State police and the state Department of Environmental Protection are investigating.
