Senior Expo planned Thursday

2 min read

The 26th annual Senior Expo will be held Thursday at Washington Crown Center.

The event is a joint effort by state Sen. Tim Solobay, D-Canonsburg, state Reps. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane Township, and Jesse White, D-Cecil, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging and the Washington County commissioners.

“The annual senior expo is as popular as ever and that’s probably because there are so many opportunities to gather information and advice on new technology that can make the golden years even more productive and rewarding,” Solobay said. “It’s a one-stop shopping place for getting information on new devices, government help, and health care.”

Again, more than 100 local, state and federal agencies along with area businesses will line the halls of the mall to provide information on products and services of specific interest to older adults. Information will be available on Social Security, transportation, Medicare, legal services, consumer protection and many other topics.

WJPA radio live remote, with radio personality Pete Povich, will begin broadcasting at 10 a.m. near the food court and complimentary coffee and donuts will be available while they last.

Each year, the Senior Expo offers a varied menu from the stage. This year’s entertainers will include the Silver Sky Duo and Bobby Shawn.

At 2 p.m., vendors will award dozens of prize drawings, including two Harrisburg trips for two. The expo will close at 3 p.m.
