Deadline for service award approaches
WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding the public the deadline for submitting nominee applications for the 27th Annual Distinguished Service Award is Sept. 29.
The chamber has announced the honor will be given to an individual for outstanding service to the Waynesburg community.
It was in 2004 the first Organizational Distinguished Service Award was presented to a civic organization or business which also showed a lasting commitment to the Waynesburg area.
These awards will be presented at the Annual Waynesburg Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting and Banquet Nov. 22 at Waynesburg University’s Benedum Dining Hall.
The winners of these awards will be selected from nominations received by the chamber. Nominees are judged on contributions to community welfare and betterment; participation in community activities and civic enterprises; lasting contributions to community welfare; leadership abilities; success in their individual vocations; personal progress; and cooperation with other individuals and organizations.
The awards will be presented for direct, outstanding service to the community and has no association to involvement in the activities of the chamber..
Nomination applications can be made by providing a cover letter that includes an explanation detailing the achievements, nature of service, nature of participation and leadership of nominee. Supporting articles, letters of recommendations, etc., are encouraged.
Anyone can nominate an individual, organization or business for the awards by submitting a completed nominee application to the chamber no later than 4 p.m. Sept. 29.
No late applications will be accepted.
