Numerous defendants plead guilty

WAYNESBURG – Numerous criminal defendants pleaded guilty last week before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman.

Those who pleaded guilty were:

William Cleveland Schamp, 49, of 218 2nd St., Mather; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol second offense, DUI incapable of safe driving, and four summary traffic violations. Schamp was arrested Jan. 9 after twice failing to signal when turning. His blood-alcohol content was 0.130 percent; sentence will be determined at a later date.

Justin Michael Drone, 24, of 855 Benton St., El Dorado, Ill.; offenses – possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. A charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance was withdrawn. Drone was arrested after he sold two bags of heroin for $30 to an agent of the police on Oct. 11, 2009, in the parking lot behind the Center Township Municipal Building; sentence – 1 year of probation consecutive to a sentence he is serving from Illinois. He was ordered to pay $750 in fines, $30 restitution to the state police, $379 in transportation costs, plus all other fines, fees and court costs. No community service was ordered in the case.

Taylor Val Adams, 28, of 154 Holland Ave., Morgantown, W.Va., offenses – driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Adams was arrested June 15, 2013, in Perry Township. State police stopped him near the Mt. Morris exit; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail with credit for 72 hours served for inpatient drug and alcohol treatment. Adams was ordered to pay $1,550 in fines and perform 100 hours of community service.

John Frederick Jordan Jr., 35, of 111 Fairview Ave., Jefferson; offenses – three counts of simple assault, three counts of harassment with physical contact and public drunkenness. Charges of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct were withdrawn. Jordan was arrested following an incident on June 1 at the Boondocs Bar at 2035 E. Roy Furman Highway in Carmichaels; sentence – 30 days to 23 ½ months in jail with credit for time served from June 1 to June 24 concurrent to a sentence received for a second offense of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay $750 in fines.

Henry Michael Lee, 36, of 426 4th St., Waynesburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol incapable of safe driving and five summary traffic violations. Lee was arrested Feb. 20 in Waynesburg Borough when police saw Lee drove into the borough from Morrisville after dark without turning on his lights. He refused a blood test to determine his alcohol level, resulting in an automatic one-year suspension of his driver’s license; sentence – 72 hours to six months in jail and was fined $1,125.

John Brett Ketchem, 53, of 215 S. Pine St., Carmichaels; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol second offense, DUI incapable of safe driving and two summary traffic violations. Ketchem was arrested Sept. 14, 2013, in Cumberland Township after he failed to signal while entering First St. and again while pulling into the parking lot of the Slavonic Club. Ketchem’s BAC was 0.131 percent; sentence – 30 days to 6 months with credit for time served for inpatient drug and alcohol treatment.

Michelle Kelly, 30, of 60 C. St., Clarksville; offenses – delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kelly was arrested May 18, 2012, after selling 10 bags of heroin to a police agent for $190 in the parking lot of the McDonalds at 273 E. Roy Furman Highway in Waynesburg; sentence – 3 to 23 ½ months in jail with credit for time served and fined $750.

Larry Frank Orloff Jr., 42, of 21 Small St., Farmington, W.Va.; offense – unsworn falsification to authorities. Orloff was arrested after attempting to acquire a gun he won at a gun bash Oct. 5, 2013, at Mt. Morris Sportsman’s Club. Orloff won a rifle and while filling out the mandatory background check indicated he had never been convicted of a charge of simple assault for domestic violence. sentence – 1 year of probation, $300 in fines and 25 hours of community service.

Tara Therese Ehrenberger, 35, of 3229 Rothpletz St., Pittsburgh; offenses -two counts of retail theft, two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft and one summary violation. Ehrenberger was arrested for participating in the theft of $440.95 in merchandise from the Waynesburg Wal-Mart store on Aug. 13, 2012; sentence – 1 year of probation consecutive to disposition in ongoing Allegheny County cases for retail theft. She was ordered to pay $300 in fines and perform 50 hours of community service.

Sarah Jane Kern, 34, of 118 3rd St., Jefferson; offense – retail theft. Kern was arrested Dec. 4, 2013, for stealing $240.13 in merchandise from the Waynesburg Wal-Mart store. Police said Kern was caught on surveillance footage removing a digital camera, phone case, various arts and crafts supplies and paper products from the store and hiding it under the seat of a pickup truck; sentence – 6 months of probation, $59 restitution to Wal-Mart, $250 fines and 50 hours of community service.

Nathan Andrew Tasker, 28, of 190 Fieldson Road, Dilliner; offenses – three counts of theft by unlawful taking, three counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of defiant criminal trespass. On Feb. 22 ,Tasker was caught on surveillance stealing an eight-pack impact wrench socket set, a ratchet set, a Skill saw, and ratchet wrenches from his former employer Rummel Oil Services at 2541 E. Roy Furman Highway in Cumberland Township. On April 17 and April 24, he broke into Consol property on Colvin Road in Monongahela Township and stole copper wire and 800 pounds of sheet metal. The value of the wire was estimated at $1,758.22 and the sheet metal at $2,350.30; sentence – 8 months to 3 years in state prison with eligibility for the Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive program of six months. Tasker was ordered to pay $5,592.38 in total restitution. .
