Free education courses on mental illness planned
National Alliance on Mental Illness will offer free family-to-family education courses beginning Sept. 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the room 4 at Greene County Education Center of Westmoreland County Community College, 100 EverGreene Drive, Waynesburg.
This series of 12 sessions is taught over the course of eight weeks, and is structured to help family members and friends understand and support the ill individual while maintaining their own well-being.
The course will be taught by a team of trained NAMI family members, and it will offer information on bipolar disorder, major depression, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and co-occurring brain and addictive disorders.
Teachers are Barbara Ruschak and Teresa Gleason. Registration is required.
