BUTLER (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he was trying to meet a 5-year-old girl for sex.

Agents from the state attorney general’s office on Wednesday arrested 43-year-old David Ellenberger when he arrived at a prearranged location expecting to meet the girl and her father.

In reality, the Summit Township man was corresponding on the phone and in text messages with an agent posing as the girl’s father.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Ellenberger who faces a preliminary hearing Sept. 26 on charges including attempted rape of a child, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

He remained in the Butler County Prison Thursday, unable to post $50,000 bond.
