Community events
Throckmorton United Methodist Church will serve a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today. The menu will include creamed chicken over biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, desserts and beverages. Takeouts are available and everyone is welcome.
The Waynesburg University Lamplighters Concert Choir, featuring approximately 34 Waynesburg University students, will perform during the university’s chapel service at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 in Roberts Chapel. Admission is free and the public is invited. A combination of Lamplighters, string ensemble and soloists will join together in a liturgical presentation of Schubert’s Mass in G, sung entirely in Latin. Each semester, the students tour numerous local nursing homes and churches to spread the gospel through song, testimony and community service. No reservations are necessary. For more information, contact Melanie Catana, director of choral music and instructor of vocal music, at 724-852-7639 or mcatana@waynesburg.edu.
