Mother arrested

2 min read

A Monongahela mother was arrested Friday after her 2-year-old daughter apparently ingested some of her prescription medication.

Hilary Ann Price, 34, of 404 Second St., was arrested by Monongahela police on charges of endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment and possession of adulterated materials after the girl reportedly swallowed Clonazepam.

The medication is used to treat seizures, anxiety and panic disorders.

When police arrived, the girl was conscious. Medical personnel told police the girl was lethargic and had trouble standing when they arrived at Price’s home.

Police said Price appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic and was dozing on and off.

They said she was on the porch of her home and left the girl unsupervised inside the house with the medication within her reach while another woman reportedly was fixing dinner.

Another child was in the room where the drug was located, police said.

When Price realized the girl may have taken a pill, she reportedly tried to induce vomiting.

The girl was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment. Police notified the girl’s father, who went to the hospital.

Washington County Children and Youth Services was contacted.

Police said CYS has an open case involving Price.

Police said they also found five pills loose in Price’s purse, in addition to the medication in bottles.

Price was placed in Washington County jail on a $10,000 percentage bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 7 before District Judge Mark Wilson.
