Pedestrian struck by car in Washington

A pedestrian suffered a serious head injury Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a car on Meadow Avenue in Washington. The driver left the scene.

Washington police said the man, who was not immediately identified, was intoxicated when he walked into the path of a silver Honda near Fairmont Supply Co. in the 400 block of Meadow Avenue about 3:30 p.m.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Washington Hospital, where his condition was not known.

Police said they are searching for the driver who struck the man.
