Police beat Sept. 24
Assault arrest: James Allen Edge, 27, of Midland, Beaver County, was arrested Sunday by California police for allegedly assaulting Christopher Coradi during a fight at the Green Street Apartments, 456 Second St. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of simple assault and harassment and placed in Washington County jail on $1,000 bond.
Marijuana arrest: Robert T. Bell, 20, of Beaver Falls, was arrested early Sunday by California police who were answering a disturbance call at Vulcan Village after he allegedly was found with suspected marijuana and paraphernalia, as well as two bottles of vodka. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and underage drinking. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Police respond to brawl: Six people face disorderly conduct citations following a fight at 74 Second St. in California about 3 a.m. Sunday, borough police said. Police said a fight between two women escalated into a brawl in which some of the people involved were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The six who were cited for disorderly conduct are Eugene Buccilli III, 21, of Verona; Anastasiva Miecznikowski, 24, of Monessen; Michael Price, 24, of Chesapeake, Va.; Jenna Sackett, 21, of Smithfield; Jeremy Seaman, 21, of Harrisburg; and Jared Shaffer, 23, of Smithton.
Teen charged: California police said they cited Zachary McGrath, 19, of Latrobe, for public drunkenness and underage drinking after he was found passed out about 10 p.m. Friday at 415 Monroe Way. McGrath was taken by ambulance to Mon Valley Hospital for evaluation, police said.
Student cited for harassment: A 16-year-old girl was cited for harassment after California police said she struck another student at California Area High School about 7:45 a.m. Monday. Police did not identify either student.
Argument over smoking: Joseph Bilitski, 58, of Roscoe, was cited for disorderly conduct after California police said he argued with officers at California Area High School football stadium about the school district’s no-smoking policy during a game Sept. 12.
Mischief charge: Shaelyn Saunoras, 21, of 524 Valley View Terrace, Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a vehicle owned by Cheyenne Shearer of Library while it was parked early Tuesday on West College Street. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Porch fire: Canonsburg police and firefighters were called Monday to the home of Benjamin Jones, 111 E. College St., when an ashtray reportedly caught fire, igniting the carpet and oil cans on his porch.
Gas line hit: Columbia Gas Co. was called Monday when crews from Kukurian Contractors hit a natural gas line on Cecil Street, Canonsburg police said.
Medication stolen: Karen Loskoski of 513 Craighead St. told Canonsburg police Monday her nephew’s medication was stolen from her vehicle.
Drug charge: Greg W. Banner of 238 Chubbic Road, Canonsburg, will receive a citation following a traffic stop on Southpointe Boulevard at 6:47 p.m. Monday, township police said. An officer said he smelled marijuana as he approached the car and, after being given permission to search the vehicle, found two containers with a small amount of marijuana. Banner will be charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Assault, disorderly arrest: Michael E. May, 51, of 321 Woodland Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday by Charleroi Regional police for allegedly throwing a chair at Cynthia Sims, hitting her in the arms, during a confrontation at his home. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was placed in Washington County jail on a $15,000 percentage bond.
Guns stolen: Lillian Weimer of Hickory Ridge Road told Chartiers police Friday two guns were stolen from her home in the last two or three months.
Tires cut: Terry Gee of 59 McConnells Mills Road told Chartiers police Friday tires were slashed on a trailer parked in his driveway.
Assault alleged: David A. Simms, 51, of 118 Main St., Claysville, was arrested Sunday by Donegal Township police on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats for allegedly choking and hitting his daughter, Jessica Lee Simms, in the face during a confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
Indecent assault charge: Timothy Bane of 1 Stage St., Clarksville, was arrested Saturday night by East Bethlehem police for allegedly fondling a boy at a home in the township. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Driver injured in I-70 crash: A driver suffered minor injuries when she crashed her car while driving west on Interstate 70 in Fallowfield shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday and then struck a tractor-trailer, state police said. Kaylynn M Beckham, 28, of Charleroi, was taken by ambulance to Mon Valley Hospital with minor injuries after she hit a guardrail and was struck by the rig driven by Dustin Stanfield, 34, of Knoxville, Tenn., police said. Police said Beckham was speeding before the crash.
Garage burglarized: A shotgun, chainsaw and two crossbows were stolen from a garage in the 700 block of Old Route 71 in Fallowfield Township about noon Monday, state police said.
Apartment burglarized: Kerrie Caivano of 103 O’Hara St. told McDonald police Sunday a wooden jewelry box and numerous pieces of jewelry, including gold necklaces with charms, diamond earrings and a pink sapphire earring and necklace set, were stolen when her apartment was burglarized.
Drug arrest: Matthew Lloyd, 34, of 123 Driftwood Drive, Monongahela, was arrested Saturday by Monongahela police after he allegedly tried to pass an altered prescription at Dierken’s Pharmacy, 101 E. Main St. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of possession with intent to deliver and possession by obtaining Clonazepam fraudulently, possession of Suboxone and possession of paraphernalia. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Leaving scene charge: Anthony S. Barton, 21, of Monongahela, will be charged by state police with leaving the scene of an accident after police say his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by William Beatty, 49, of Hickory, earlier this month on Main Street in Mt. Pleasant. Police said Barton got out of his vehicle and walked away, but was later identified as the driver.
DUI alleged in crash: Jeremy Gardner, 28, of Amity, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing his pickup truck on Brush Run Road, North Bethlehem, Saturday. State police said his truck went off the road, hit a utility pole and traveled 300 feet into a cornfield. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Motorcyclist injured: Two people were injured when a car and motorcycle collided Saturday afternoon at Thomas and Waterdam roads, North Strabane police said. A witness told North Strabane police the car, driven by Brandon Morris, 27, of 120 Fourth St., Waynesburg, pulled from Thomas without stopping and drove into the path of a motorcycle operated by Deborah Marcum, 42, of 104 Walnut St., Eighty Four, on Waterdam. Marcum, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. A passenger in the car, Ashley E. Morris, 24, of 117 Fourth St., Waynesburg, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital.
Two injured: Two people were injured Friday morning on Route 519 at the entrance to the North Strabane Township Building. Township police said Patrick McKinney, 28, of Detroit, Mich., was stopped for a car making a left turn when he was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Marion Molinaro, 84, of Elizabeth. McKinney was taken to Canonsburg Hospital. Molinaro, who police said suffered a minor injury, was treated at the scene.
Copper stolen: Copper pipe was reported stolen Monday during a burglary of a home on Demar Boulevard, North Strabane police said. A door was reportedly forced open.
Theft charges: Shastine N. Horne, 18, of 663 Banetown Road, Amwell Township; Ashley B. Wright, 18, of 153 Laddie Drive, Canton Township, and a 16-year-old McMurray girl were charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $358.91 from Wal-Mart, Trinity Point, earlier this month. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Scrap metal stolen: Scrap metal and aluminum parts were reported stolen from Walter Long Manufacturing along Walter Long Road in Union Township Sept. 18, Southwest Regional police said.
Trespassing on railroad tracks: Bradley Mazzuce, 19, of Beaver Falls, faces charges of false reports to police and trespassing by vehicle following an incident along railroad tracks near Stone Church Road in Union Township Aug. 23, Southwest Regional police said.
Assault, drug arrest: Shawn M. Carroll, 32, of 340 Canton Ave., Washington, was arrested Friday by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy who was driving through Washington’s West End when he said he saw Carroll hit Jessica Chatman. Police said they also found Carroll with suspected crack. Carroll, who already was wanted on a bench warrant, was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on new charges of simple assault, harassment and possession of crack. He was placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Harassment alleged: Shawn Vaden, 34, of 916 Ewing St., Washington, was cited for harassment after he allegedly followed a woman in his car near 99 E. Wylie Ave. and took photos of her shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, city police said.
Single-car crash: State police said Amanda L. Machesky, 30, of Daisytown, was speeding when she lost control of her pickup truck on Scenic Drive in West Pike Run Township and crashed into a guardrail about 1 a.m. Tuesday. Police said Machesky was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
